Friends are like our brothers and sisters. In other words, a friends' circle is also a kind of family for which we have some responsibilities to fulfill. Sometimes, we may have a larger rock to move away from our path. One of the biggest responsibilities that we as a friend have to do is to keep the secrets that our brotherlike friends share with us with a great deal of trust. Keeping secrets to themselves is something that lots of people fail to carry. However, one must be quite persistent on the oath that they have made.
If one of my friends, comes to me and tells me a huge secret that he wants me to keep to myself only, then I will never reveal his/her secret to anyone secret, and that's that. I have plenty of good reasons why one should never reveal someone's secret. First of all, I don't know about the others, but I have my self-respect that would never allow me to do such a thing. Secondly, I don't have the right to violate someone else's rights to their privacy. Thirdly, it is against my morality to break someone's trust in me. If someone puts a lot of faith upon me, then it becomes my duty to keep that faith alive. Morality means the sense of what's right and what's wrong. It directly deals with our well-being. If people started to lose faith in each other, then the whole world will face a chaotic situation. In other words, it is not right for our well-being to break trust and cheat on each other.
However, one must always understand that all rules are contextual, no rule is universal. Ones those made by humans, of course! Generally, I would not break anyone's trust by revealing their secrets to others. However, if the person is self-sabotaging himself with his secret and other people are desperately trying to help, then in such a situation, it could be a wise move to reveal the secret. It's because tomorrow it may cost more to us. For example, let's say my friend is dealing with depression that was resulted from the failure of his secret relationship. In such a situation, I would probably reveal the secret behind his condition to his parents who always want the best for him. Therefore, whether one should follow a certain rule can sometimes be contextual. It also depends on the nature of the urgency of the case.
