Should Hong Kong develop the MICE market? To what extent do you agree?

For decades, Hong Kong has been an international city attracting millions of visitors every year including visitors attending MICE events in Hong Kong. MICE events are important for Hong Kong as they would provide great economic and social benefits to Hong Kong. In particular, MICE events could provide Hong Kong the opportunities for gaining economic benefits, facilitating the exchange of knowledge and ideas and supporting potential business to raise funds. As such, to a large extent, I agree that Hong Kong should focus on developing the MICE market. First, MICE events would allow Hong Kong to gain economic benefits. Developing the MICE market would allow different industries such as hospitality, catering and exhibition services to gain business income. For example, exhibition services providers could provide exhibition services to more foreign customers who would like to hold MICE event in Hong Kong. This would also create more job opportunities to cope with the exhibition services in Hong Kong. Thus, developing the MICE market would provide great economic benefits to the Hong Kong community. Second, MICE events would facilitate the exchange of knowledge and ideas in Hong Kong. MICE events would allow Hong Kong to gather experts from all over the world to exchange knowledge and ideas. For example, it would allow professors, scientists and students in Hong Kong to participate in the MICE events relating to technological matters for discussions and exchange knowledge and ideas. As such, this would provide great academic benefits to Hong Kong. Third, MICE events could support potential business in Hong Kong to raise funds. Many startups in Hong Kong lack funds to grow their business and MICE events could provide a platform for them to find investors from all over the world, in particular, this would provide them the higher chance to raise funds. In conclusion, to a large extent, I agree that Hong Kong should focus on developing the MICE market, as it would provide Hong Kong the opportunities for gaining economic benefits, facilitating the exchange of knowledge and ideas and supporting potential business to raise funds. Besides of depending the traditional industries such as financial and logistic services, Hong Kong should also develop the MICE markets to gain economic benefits and to maintain its competitiveness.
