The charts compare the proportion of genders (males and females) that were physically active in different age categories in Australia in the year 2010.
Overall, Australian women exercised regularly than men. Female participation rates also increased with age whereas the opposite was true for male counterparts.
As can be seen, men from 14 to 24 years of age was the only male group that higher than females, with 52. 8% of 15-to 24-year-olds engaging in regular activity compared to 47. 7% of females. From this point on, there was a marginal decline in male participation rate, reaching a trough of 39. 5% in the 35 to 44 age group. There was also a recovery in male participation rates at the age of 45, increasing from 43. 1% to 46, 7%
Turning to females, after taking part in less than men in the youngest age group, women who were 25 years old and above grew gradually, reaching a peak of 55. 3%. In older group, the figure for women involving in physical exercise decreased with age, hitting a low of 47, 1% in the 55 and over group. In the oldest age group, the figures for both gender was near parity, with just under 50%.
