In the past, our ancestors, but also our own grandparents, had the constant worry of science. In reality, what scared them the most was lack of knowledge. In fact, if we take into consideration the centuries before the XIX, we will witness a constant reject of medicine. In order to understand and study our inner organs, doctors had to perform a medical procedure on lifeless bodies, but it was extremely against the concept of religion due to the fact that they were opening a gift from God.
In the last two centuries, many scientists made many discoveries by experiencing on the human body. In fact, an important number of antibiotics and vaccines were produced, and many lives saved.
Still, religion occupied every aspect of everybody’s life. In 1960s, the nowadays elderly were extremely religious and that affected every sphere of life. In 1969, due to cancer my grandfather underwent a medical procedure in order to take off the ill parts of his body. After the operation, my grandmother was told that the doctors tried their best, but he were in God’s hands. Nowadays, if a doctor said those words, many of us would be worried by his or her medical abilities.
By far, the most important discovery of the last century is the covid vaccine. After suffering for over two years, the vaccine offers hope.
Hope for understanding that our doctors are also people and society must protect them.
Hope against any form of religious aspect that can make their job more difficult.
