In my opinion, extended family is the current family trend in VietNam. Extended family means more than two generations living under the same roof.
It is not denied that it brings a wide range of advantages. Firstly, high unemployment rates, part-time work, and low-paid jobs made young adults come back with their parents. So if they live together, the high-cost living will be solved. Second, young parents do not have to worry about childcare when they live with an extended family. In addition, their offspring have more opportunities to interact with their grandparents which will make family members closer.
On the other hand, living with an extended family has some disadvantages. Some reasons include the lack of space in the house, independence, and privacy. Moreover, sometimes it will have some conflicts of differences in points of view.
Whether they accept it or not, the trend will be more popular owing to many people still choosing traditional extended family.
