obssessed with materialism

Many people argue that the tendency toward materialism of many humans has become snobbish because of increasing obsession with material goods so other important things like people’ relationships or family bonding are not essential anymore. This phenomenon has reduced the true value of life. Personally, I completely agree with this view. There are two main reasons why using and buying expensive things and luxury goods make people become obsessed with the quest for a standard living. People tend to think material goods are a way to evaluate their yardstick of success. For example, when a person drives a high price car, wears luxury clothes and high end handbag brand people will assert they are in poverty or they have high income so everyone may adore them. This can be a threat for people's lives because some humans do not have much money but they also want affection from others so they borrow money to buy material goods then when they can not pay the debt they can be bankrupt. This is due to the fact that many people do not remember the ethos of sharing and caring for their family which leads to breakdown of family and broken relationships. Apart from the practical disadvantages expressed above, I believe that effects from social media also make people obsessed with accumulation of material things because there are a lot of people who share and update their materialistic things on it. For instance, the younger generation always show off their wealth by designing clothes or expensive cars for their friends. . Also, they want to love and be impressed by their income but it raises the problem of peer pressure when others can not get the same success. Moreover, somes will use fake goods to increase their humanity value. In conclusion, it seems to me that using material things can be a threat for people because they always have to deal with the flow of money, they can forget their virtue and be superficial with their family and their friends. The solution to this is that people should have an indicator of open- mindedness about success.
