Living in a country where you have to speak a foreign language can cause serious social problems, as well as practical problems. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement? Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Everyone has his or her own idea regarding the language that should be spoken in their own country. Some people might think that speak a foregin language can cause social problems and practical problems which I do not agree to some extent with this view of thinking. Speaking a foreign language, to my mind, can encourage people not only to learn a new language, but also a new culture from that new country. Moreover, learning another country’s language could be very useful if people going abroad for work or trip. In other words even though a foreign language is not our mother tounge, but I am definitely convinced that it will benefit us in many ways. People would never stop to learn new things, and language could be one the best options for us. I recently heard news about a man who received an acknowledge for his abilities to speak more than 7 languages in his such young age. It seems to me that this news has proven to many that speak as many languages as you can is a great thing that you can be done. Moreover, people will also learn another culture and tradition of one country while they are learning the new language. People often travel abroad and face difficulties in having conversation with the local people there, nevertheless, learning foreign language could help them to solve this problem. Many people live in other nation, either for work or a short vacation trip with their family. If they could speak the mother language of foreign country, they should not be worried of how to spend their days there. I have Indonesian as my mother language. I went to Singapore several years ago and I could speak English and a little bit Chinese which make me could have talks with local people there. In summary, I am sure that learning a foreign language will benefit us in various ways more than its disadvantages. So to speak, people need to acquire a knowledge of new languages.
