This book is a collection of childhood experiences of a Black South African comedian in Pre-Apartheid and Post-Apartheid South Africa. The author of this book, Trevor Noah was result of a union between a Black woman and a white German man. He was born during Apartheid era which made his birth to be illegal by law. In early chapters Trevor share experiences of his mother in Apartheid era. She was a very strong and independent woman, who didn't wished to be bound by any law or tradition. She was very religious but also a liberal woman. Her ideas about faith, color, dreams, gender, right and wrong kept aspiring Trevor throught his life.
The book also tells about post-Apartheid Era. It was quite uncertain age where everyone was afraid of everyone.
