To some people studying the past is the best way to help young people function well in the modern world. To what extent do you agree or disagree? What other measures could be effective in helping young people to function well in the modern world?

There is no doubt to say that learning the past is one of the most effective ways to help the young perform better in the today’s world. While I believe that providing yourself with wide range of new information about the modern world is extremely useful, I completely agree that an awareness of the past is probably the best mean to do so. It is obvious that teaching history to the young, especially schoolchildren, is one of the best ways to help them in the present world. Learning about the past does not only give them pride in their own victorious history and precious culture but explain to them how things used to work and proceed. Furthermore, studying history also provides the young with a number of knowledge which may help them to avoid risks and failures of their ancestors or researches in the past. On the other hand, despite knowing a lot about the past, it is inadequate for young people to adapt to the new world. As a result, there are other approaches that might do wonders for them. Firstly, the young need to keep themselves updated and informed with up-to-date data and knowledge. What I mean by this is that they should always be accessed to high-tech devices, not only in schools but homes as well, in order to be active in finding and learning new things. Besides, if parents can encourage their children, school can propagandize students about the importance of digital skills in finding jobs in this competitive world, they will be more motivated and willing to learn about those matters. In conclusion, despite the necessary of these measures, an understanding coming from the culture and history, both national and international still plays a crucial role in everyone’s lives, especially the young. With these priceless awareness, they can survive and succeed in this competitive modern world.
