Nowadays, everyone uses a cell phone and a personal computer on a day-to-day basis. With all these technological advancements, this enables people to work virtually or what is known as work from home. In this essay, I will be discussing both the advantages and the disadvantages of such as advancement.
With regards to the positive effects, working from home can make peoples’ lives by far much easier. The reason behind this is that when someone works from home, they will stay in the bubble of their comfort zone without having to get out of their beds to go to work early in the morning. In addition, when employees work from home, this will aid in reducing traffic congestion as people will not be using their cars or any public transportation to go to their work. This also has a positive impact on the environment by saving it from extra pollution.
However, concerns have been raised about working from home, much of this is related to social and interpersonal skills. When people work from home, this can impact their ability to build many skills on both a personal and a professional level. For example, interacting with colleagues at work can be very beneficial by sharing ideas and learning how to understand others by mutual respect, whilst by working from home, people will be isolated and over time they might have a deficiency in such important skills which will have a negative impact on them in the long run.
I believe that the disadvantages of working online rather than physically going to work outweigh its advantages for the reasons mentioned in addition to others. Additionally, an important reason is that working from home can lead to the laziness and the demotivation of employees experiencing it. Although working in a team physically can be demanding, however it is also rewarding and motivating.
To conclude, the balance between working from home and going to work physically is very crucial for a promising future although it can have both positive and negatives effects on the long run.
