Everyone needs a break from their busy and hectic lives, to sit back and relax and do something that satiates their mental thirst of fulfillment and desires. For some it might be reading a book or a magazine, for others it might be watching a show, while some might desire playing outdoor games with friends, some might even enjoy partying. These all are forms of escapism, a human tendency which leads us to seek enjoyment in things outside of our daily routine. I have chosen this theme as my area of interest for my report as I wanted to talk about my way of escapism and how it is relevant to the Modern World.
My report delineates the growth of Video Games from the realms of a few colleges in the late 1990s to being widespread across the globe. It will also make an effort to outline the currently undocumented rise of Video Games outside of the Gaming industry, and how it is becoming a force to be reckoned with in the Entertainment and Sporting Industries, because of massive popularity of multiplayer games like DOTA 2, CS: GO, League of Legends.
The project is based on the Documentary: ‘Free To Play’, released in 2014, based on the video game DOTA 2. The documentary will act as a conducive tool to examine how the esports and Video Gaming Industry operates, and my report will be built on its framework extending to relevance in today’s world and will focus on the constant growth and overall success of the Industry.
