Environmental concerns today are a matter of concern that the whole world is facing simultaneously. There are sections of society who believe that this is more of a government problem, whilst others believe that this is a problem that can be only solved through individual intervention. From my perspective, the government has an indispensable role in such issues. To begin, a single person even though they cannot offer environmental protection measures for a whole society to follow, they are able to make small changes at home in order to eradicate the detrimental causes to our environment. For instance, we can always bring along a recycling bag while shopping so that usage of the plastic bag would decrease. These will definitely help in minimising the air pollution caused by burning plastic bags. In addition, each people also needs to educate themselves on the importance of a balanced ecosystem and understand the consequences of their behaviours. Therefore, such actions of an individual could lead to a healthy environment. On the other hand, others would argue that governments play a more vital role in saving mother nature. The combustion of fossil fuels from industries and vehicles is one of the most significant source of pollution. And for such general social problems, the government can focus on more easily and also provides effective solutions for the public to reduce the use of fossil fuels, which would help decrease greenhouse gas emissions. Authorities can impose stringent rules to be followed by local people. For example, usage of plastic bags should be completely banned in the country, and this can only be forced by administration. As a result, the governments play a critical role in the process of eliminating consequences that harm the environment. To conclude, environmental issues can be tackled only if the governments and individuals make a concerted effort. In my view, the authorities have a cardinal part in resolving these concerns.
