In recent years, there has been a rise in the popularity of second-hand clothing amongst the younger generation. Why is this happening? Do you think it’s a positive or negative development? A8kG1
The young generation is inclining to second-hand dress lately. The reason is that second-hand dresses are economical and I believe that this is a positive development because reusing products will put less pressure on our planet's environment. Second-hand products are less expensive which are much more affordable for lower-budget people. This is to say a large portion of the young generation is students or has a struggling career which means they do not have sufficient money for their expenditure as an extravagant. As a result, a product, which is someone’s fancy dress after being used by one elegant person, can be bought in a low cost which is a huge saving and a win-win circumstance. For example, the young generation’s demand for reusing dresses result in opening a lot of that types of the physical shops as well as online shops like Bikroy. com in Bangladesh. This has a plus point since it is helping not to produce more waste materials. In other words, when someone is using the dress again, which is supposed to be dumped in a dump yard or let it be rotten, which means it is protecting us from further pollution. In addition to this, less demand in new dress means that less demand in the fashion factory which results in low amount of Ozone gases emission. For instance, fashion industry’s colossal demand, resulting in huge wastage materials, is responsible for global warming, shown by numerous YouTube documentaries. To conclude, second-hand dresses are being popular because these are cheaper for the young generation than new products and this has positive aspects like reducing pollution of our invaluable world.
