Nowadays businesses face problems with new employees who just finished their education and lack some interpersonal skills such as the ability to work in a team. What do you think is the main cause of the problem? How can it be resolved?

Companies especially in the modern society always emphasize the importance of teamwork, it is no doubt that working in a team could increase the productivity and build the better quality of working environment. However, companies found that new employees mainly focus on their academic level and lack some interpersonal skills, for example how to work in a team nowadays. In my opinion, I believe these problems were caused by the culture in Hong Kong and internet world, the measures that both parents and teachers could take to address these problems. In Hong Kong, many families prefer to have one child only. It is because the living cost in Hong Kong is higher, parents should spend a lots on their children’s educational fee and the expenses on improving their living standard in order to provide the best things to their children. Therefore, many parents are focus on their work to gain income, and they spend less time to communicate with their children. Moreover, the parents only expect their children to get a good academic result. It would influence the children’s mind that getting a better academic level is enough in the society. In addition, virtual world is the one of key cause of these problems. It creates lack face-to-face interaction, thus, people tend to communicate with others through social media. As a result, people become lack some interpersonal skills particularly it is hard to working in a team. To solve these problems, parents should manage a better time schedule to balance their family issues and jobs, in order to spend much time on their children. Parents can share their working environment and experiences to their children, so that children would think academic result is not the only factor for entering a company. Furthermore, school can arrange more group projects or organize the competitions via internet to complete, in order to build children’s interpersonal skill. In conclusion, I believe both parents and teachers should help to improve these problems and build a person’s potential skill as well.
