In today's overcrowded world, it is not uncommon to see many people residing in congested accommodation with open-air space deficiency. Due to a set of factors-lack of social and physical activities and effects on overall well-being of people- it is a negative trend, I think. First, an essential issue could be the shortage of social and physical activities. In other words, if there is no outdoorsy space, it will actually deprive families of having leisure-time activities, family get-togethers and picnics. In Uzbekistan, for instance, a number of families prefer to organize social events in their backyards. Consequently, it is likely to break the practice in communities. Second, it is true that this impacts on mental and physical health of dwellers. Living in limited accommodation could lead to laziness because of lack of physical activities and at the same time being constrained in a limited area might be the cause of depression. A survey conducted by Oxford University revealed that children who participate in outdoor activities are more active and sociable than who do not have any gardening area or backyard. In conclusion, it can be said that even though it is common to live in apartments without open-air space, its detrimental sides should be taken into consideration, namely the shortage of social/physical activities and damaged health of dwellers.
