Wisdom or knowledge can be achieved in different ways but what way is the most effective? It is once said, “Wisdom is not a product of schooling but of the lifelong attempt to acquire it”, which is correct to a large extent due to the following reasons. First, if one wishes to get the true wisdom of knowledge, he should get more real-life experience. It is simply because those experiences or lessons are extremely priceless and invaluable which one can hardly attain in ordinary school lessons. Those lessons can be varied. For example, if one is interested in writing and feels that school does not provide enough techniques, he can find more ways to practice writing on his own, either by creating a blog or joining a writing community. Clearly, wisdom should be achieved from life, not just from schooling. Second, becoming a lifelong learner is a critical factor to succeed in life. Many people have amazing educational backgrounds but they just later seriously struggle in life; whereas, the ones who have little formal education, appear to be one of the most successful people on the planet Earth. Abraham Lincoln, for instance, is a lawyer with merely one year of formal training and was primarily home-schooled. Therefore, it is advisable that no matter what level you are now, just keep broadening your knowledge and investing in yourself in order to acquire more wisdom and skills. Third, there are many ways to practice lifelong learning. For one thing, you could cultivate a habit of reading. Reading enables you to learn from the mistakes of people in the past and thus faster achieve your goals. Besides, you can think of upgrading the skills you already had from intermediate to advanced by constantly looking for new methods to train them. Lastly, learning a new language cannot be ignored. By doing this, you will have a chance to make friends around the globe and expand your cultural knowledge as well. In brief, education does not produce wisdom; rather, wisdom is the result of a lifetime of learning.
