The given graph represents the number of travelers who came to the United Kingdom for different purposes from 1989 to 2009. Overall, the number of visitors saw a rise in a significant portion of the given period.
As the graph shows, the number of visitors who came to the UK for holiday purposes was fluctuating during the period. In 1989 the number was 6. 5 million which remained unchanged in the next five years. The number increased up to 9 million in 1999, but then it fell rapidly to 6. 5 million after 5 years. Afterward, the number saw a gradual increase in the following years.
However, for the purposes of business and meeting friends and relatives, both figures show a similar trend. The visitor number for business and meeting started from 5 million and 3. 5 million respectively and then rose to 8 and 7 million respectively in 2004. After that, the number dropped till 2009. The number of visitors for business purposes was more than that for meeting purposes.
