It is widely observed that government allocates sizable amount of public money to improve transport infrastructure of urban area compared to the amount of money allocated for improvement of transport system in rural area. I will discuss here about why it is so and what kind of steps can taken for it’s resolution.
To begin with, nowadays people prefer to live more in cities compared to villages as they offer more employment and business opportunities to citizens. This has resulted in urban population being more compared to rural population and cities are becoming more and more densed than the villages. Because of this, government authorities finds it more challenging to provide basic transport facilities in city area which will in turn require more innovative solutions for issues of urban transport system. Compared to that, rural area do not face this kind of issue and just need basic solution to their transport system. So I believe urban transport system usually receives more amount of public fund compared to the rural transport system.
To resolve this, I belive that government should invest more in attracting industries to setup their units in rural area so people will not have to migrate to cities in search of job or doing business. This will keep balance between urban and rural population and so basic infrastructure can also be created in rural area and so the rural transport system will also get it’s required share for improvement.
To summarise, although urban area has its own challenges to improve urban transport infrastructure and more funds needed for innovative solution for their problem, rural area needs altogether setup of new industries so more development work can be initiated in villages and will get comparative share of public funds to improve rural transport system.
