The table illustrates percentages of the source of student income since 1988 to 1998 in the United Kingdom.
Overall, student loan and also earning shows an upward trend as well as other source of income, while parental contribution and grant has experienced a decrease since the first of the period to the end of it.
The trend has clearly changed during the period of time in study at the beginning in 1988 the main source of income for most student was grant with 38% percentage followed by parental contribution with 32%. Both of them has have experienced a downward trend during the years reaching 14% and 16% respectively.
On the other hand, student loan showed a sharp increase since 1988 to 1992 remain constantly increasing until the end of the study reaching a 24% becoming the second source of student income surpassed only for other sources which has reached 34% in 1998. Earnings has steady increase from 6% to 12% until 1998.
