The below table depicts the quota of families suffered by poverty in Australia in the year 1999. It is apparent that the family type of sole parent is mostly hit by poverty with a proportion of 21%. At a glance it is seen that a summation of 11% from all households belongs to the category of poor counting a number of 1, 837, 000 from total population of Australia. When comparing the percentages of different family categories hit by poverty a larger proportion of 21% belongs to the family type of sole parent with a count of 232, 000 while a minimum of 4% is recorded in family type of aged couple and the count is a minimum of 48, 000. When considering the numbers of different family categories suffering from poverty a maximum of 933, 000 is belonging to the couple with children category. It can be summarized that child rearing couples are mostly suffered by poverty and aged people are not experiencing difficulty when coping with life due to poverty.
