The ease of international travel and the spread of various kinds of mass media all over the world have made it more possible than ever for people to know how other people live in other countries. Do the advantages of this development outweigh the disadvantages wm7qn
Globalization made it possible for us to travel wherever and whenever we want to abroad and get informed about what is happening in other parts of the world easily from the comfort of our home. Many people reckon this development as an opportunity, while there are some who are reluctant about this change because of the concern of losing their own identity. This essay will discuss both sides of the argument and conclude with my own perspective. Although, getting to know other countries’ cultures has countless pros, there are some patriotic beliefs that still exist which consider this kind of soft power is harmful to preserve a countries’ culture and identity. When it comes to the young generation, receiving tons of information, content about foriegn culture and lifestyle on a daily basis, makes them unconsciously praise and to prioritize it rather than their own culture. For instance, most of Mongolian youngsters admire K-pop bands and watch Korean drama excessively and make it their priority but they hardly know about their traditional arts and culture. Moreover, they communicate with each other in Korean language, in the long run this kind of cultural influence can be harmful to the existence of their own language and culture. Nevertheless, having knowledge about foriegn lifestyle, culture, and politics, especially about markets can open doors for opportunities. Firstly, getting to know well about other parts of the world and their culture makes people more knowledgable and grow as a global citizen, as a result it has a profound effect on reducing racism and xenophobia which triggers conflicts. Besides, having a better understanding about the foriegn countries’ culture, people's behaviour, and market differences makes it easier to accustom, as if people when they travel, study or work in a foriegn country and eliminates cultural shock. To conclude, in my humble opinion, the benefits of having better knowledge and information about foriegn culture outweigh it’s drawbacks due to the fact that it reduces the cultural conflicts that is a root cause of any houx and help them understand as a human we are all the same and we share this one planet.
