Some people think that being able to communicate with others online is breaking down geographical barriers and enabling people, who would normally never have the chance to meet, to communicate. What are the advantages of international communication online? Are there any disadvantages to this?

It is believed that online communication can break the barriers in geography and people are able to have a far-distance meeting with others. I, personally, consider that it has both merits and demerits for people. On the one hand, there are several benefits of contacting online in some aspects. Firstly, internationally communicating through online enables users to broaden their social relationship over the sea. Thanks to the advancement of modern technology, more and more state-of-the-art tools are released in order to meet the high demands of people. Facebook and messenger are the prime examples, those apps allow their users to make a phone call and send instant messages that provide visual interaction as in real life despite living in different countries for a few seconds. Hence, with its convenience, this means of contact encourages people to friend on social sites and keep in touch with each other regardless of distance. Secondly, there is free-of-charge to communicate by internet. While having a meeting with others people have to pay a fee for a seat in some coffee house or restaurant to have a conversation, the only cost for online communication is wife prices which are much more affordable. Hence, that money can be set aside for vital situations in future. On the other hand, I recognise some negative impacts of international communications. People can lack face-to-face interaction if they heavily rely on those online types of connection. This leads to the loss of social and communication skills that are needed for effectively contacting and working in the future. Therefore those people cannot find satisfying jobs and feel isolated from society. Furthermore, that social networking gains popularity increases cyberbullying on the internet. For instance, when Miss Grand International 2021 Nguyen Thuc Thuy Tien became the winner, there were various bad comments on her official facebook fanpage about her body and appearance although she didnot have any wrongdoings to them. Those actions reflect the unsafety of social media in which anonymous people can deeply hurt other feelings. In conclusion, it is indisputable that internet interaction has made human communication channels more universal without geographical hurdles. Nevertheless, one should not neglect the dark side of this technological revolution.
