Task 2: Some businesses find that their new employees lack basic interpersonal skills, such as cooperative skills. What are the causes and suggest some possible solutions? G8WRe
It is observed that young personnel do not have good fundamental interpersonal skills such as cooperative skills. This can be explained by rigid adherence to theoretical subjects of schools and lack of real life interaction. The resolute actions in this essay may offer potential improvements. To begin with, there are major causes why new employees fail to excel in their interpersonal skills. The first reason is school curriculums do not entail skill lessons. Pupils have to focus on tedious theoretical lessons in order to get flying colors in exams rather than be trained to acquire better vital skills. Furthermore, due to the emergence of advanced technology, people are inclined towards interacting and working online. As a result, lack of face to face interaction and real experience from collaborating with their friends or co-workers leads to not having opportunities to develop their communication and team working skills. Fortunately, this problem can be tackled by viable solutions and appropriate adjustments. Firstly, schools should redesign lectures by incorporating more skill lessons and practice sessions in order to equip and build up skills for students, allowing them to better adapt to business environments. Secondly, individuals should deliberately allocate their time participating in activities organized by clubs, schools or organizations with the aim of widening their social network and hence enhancing their communicative and collaborative skills. In conclusion, the problem of lack of interpersonal skills among new staff is attributed to the failure to include lessons of practical skills and a devoid of direct communication. A joint effort by schools and individuals can mitigate this issue. It is recommended that people should both brush up on their interpersonal skills through both learning and experiencing.
