Task 2: In many countries, more and more people choose to buy imported food rather than food produced locally. Why people buy imported food? What could be done to encourage people to buy local food?

There is an increasing number of people purchasing for international food rather than domestic one. This trend, which is driven by many factors, can be handled effectively as there are many measures to stimulate individuals buying national food. The expense for oversea food becoming increasingly dramatic due to many reasons. Firstly, there is a large number of individuals who apetite for international food. In fact, from some residents’point of view, the food from overseas has higher quality compared to the domestic one, as they believe that those food has been tested strictly when exporting to other countries as well as guaranteed carefully when importing into their region. Secondly, residents easily have no more interest in food that they have eaten for years. In particular, exposing to tradional food for a long time put people in a boring situation, which entails to the high appreaciation of other type of foreign food. Therefore, some individuals desire to enjoy other unique food rather than local products. However, there are several solutions for encouraging residents to pay for local food. Initially, food companies should take more actions into appealing their old and new consumers. For example, they need to improve the quality or hygiene of their products by having more national and international certificates for their food as well as diverse their type of food to attract local people. Secondly, foreign food consumption would decline when governments raise the tarrif. In fact, residents are more likely to opt to cheaper but delicious food rather than expensive and unique food. Thus, the demand for imported food may happen temporarily owing to the expensive prices. In conclusion, people prefer paying for oversea food due to many reasons; however, there are also many solutions to boost the local food sell.
