Most countries want to improve standard of living through economic development, however, others think social value is lost as a result. Do you think the advantages of economic development outweigh the disadvantages?

Economic development has lifted many poor people out of poverty and brought a better materialistic Lifestyle that's why many countries focus on the development of the economy. Others believe that it can lead to the loss of human values. I think economic growth has many benefits as compared to drawbacks. It is easy to see why the Government supports the economic evaluation as people get good health treatment, better infrastructure such as good connectivity to Urban and rural areas, more job opportunities, and many more. In addition, people can have access to education when they can afford the tuition fees. Through education, people can gain a variety of knowledge in many fields and learn how to use it for a better world. It seems to me that economic development is beneficial to the whole country. However, it is often argued that human values such as kindness and compassion are devalued during the development of the country. Many people become money-oriented and self-serving to get a lavish lifestyle. For example, a person who achieved basic needs in life and now, he wants more than the necessary things such as luxurious cars, big house and many more, thorough that he will become workaholic to achieve more and more in life. Hence it makes clear that people ignore human values to achieve a good quality of life. In conclusion, it cannot be denied that there are many minor drawbacks of economic development, but still, I believe that there are more merits than demerits of economic development.
