Success is defined differently by people. Do you think it should be measured by wealth and materialistic things? What makes a person successful? Does success lead to happiness?
Success is defined differently by people. Do you think it should be measured by wealth and materialistic things? What makes a person successful? Does success lead to happiness? g77
What is considered accomplishment by one may be too ordinary for another as the definition of success varies according to one’s ambition and desires. Although it is widely believed that affluence and material possessions are measures of a person’s success, I opine differently because these are not the best indicators of progress and one may be devoid of happiness despite these.
Firstly, the unhappiness of many rich and famous is a true indication of the fact that the people residing in luxurious houses do not consider themselves successful. Had it been so, there would not have been cases of depression in the elite class worldwide. Everyday, we come across news of celebrities fighting their blues. Therefore, it can not be judged by the worldly possessions.
Secondly, it is not the rich lifestyle but the positivity of a person that makes him achieve different things. For example, excelling in sports can be the upward trajectory for some, whereas just being a good parent might be what one desires in life and if the progeny performs brilliantly in any field then that might be the zenith for some. Thus, optimism always opens the door to succeed in one or the other arena.
Lastly, although almost everyone aspires for success, the achievement of anything can not be the main parameter for a person’s happiness. For example, despite being successful, many well known personalities commit suicide. So, success and happiness cannot be correlated.
To conclude, having pecuniary advantage does not necessarily bring happiness and is certainly not the standard scale to measure success. Moreover, it is the attitude of a person that becomes the threshold for him to propel and succeed in whatever he wants to.
