Some individuals insist that international sports tournaments and competitions lead us to form friendships with one another. I am inclined to agree that the events will facilitate friendly relations between competitors and spectators alike. On the one hand, the worldwide game leads a number of individuals to travel to the city where the event takes place. The travelers, who except fanatical fans, tend to increase their feelings of familiarity with the local citizens. They directly consume an incredible amount of services and goods such as foods, beverages, and accommodations. The host region will improve relations with other nationals through global competitions’ massive economic effects. For instance, a plethora of cities have been nominated to host the Olympics, and once they are selected as the host city, a welcoming environment for foreigners will be fostered nationwide. On the other hand, there seem to be a few groups who never admit a certain country to attend international tournaments due to unfavorable political or historical reasons. Although they will visit the stadium to support their favorite team, there might not be amity. These prejudices occasionally appear all over the world; the relationship between China and Taiwan over worldwide matches might be a similar case. In conclusion, I agree with the statement generally that global sports festivals provide crucial opportunities for people to share their feelings and emotions; however, there are stances involving aspects such as racialism and nationalism, which undermine the era of international amity.
