Some people think multiple choice tests are better than tests which require you to write an essay. Other people think that tests which require you to write an essay are better.

Testing is a great method to evaluate one's skill or experience. It is believed that tests which are operated on a multiple-choice concept will be more advantageous, whereas many individuals consider tests that require written essays to be better. While the latter idea is appealing to many, I agree with the former one. It is commonly thought that selecting correct answers wasn’t the most effective way to test. However, this concept would be way more useful, especially the time when tests are too hard to be written. Math tests nowadays require students to memorize a plethora of complex equations and strategies, which are easily mistaken when written down and to put them in order. If this situation happens rapidly throughout the test; cumulatively, students will accidentally get a ridiculous amount of incorrect answers. Accordingly, a Math test which only includes multiple choices would not waste students’ time noting down long formulas and organizing them correctly. This advantage would ease the pressure remarkably, and also the time for writing could be efficiently used for thinking, resulting in more accuracy and solid performance. Good grades will be achieved more and students should be more determined, contributing to the better study. On the other hand, essays and paragraphs tests are also efficacious in various aspects. In Literature, to build an essay, skills and logic are essential. A scholar must be careful in word choice and use their critical thinking to express their idea in the most precise way. Moreover, this method of test provides various specific answers. Each student can hand out works written by their knowledge and personalities. This offers a comprehensive view of any students and helps the teacher to mark more exactly. When a test is marked carefully, learners can quickly spot their weaknesses, therefore mitigating their problems to make more progress in learning. In conclusion, despite having drawbacks, multiple-choice and written tests both benefit in their own way. In my experience, I don't have problems dealing with vocabulary or arranging ideas, and I would like to save my time in practicing skills, and only test when necessary. As a result, I advocate the idea of operating the multiple-choice concept, as this kind of test suits me more. It’s about learning and the test is a challenge for what a person has learned.
