Salary between celebrity and famous athlete should be taken down for reducing poverty
Salary between celebrity and famous athlete should be taken down for reducing poverty m08dK
It is already a public secret that there are some disparities between citizens’ salary. According to Economic theory, there are three factions of people’s income: low-income, middle-income, and super-income people. This inequalities are reflected when the 1% of gigantic income people can own about 80% of national income. Thus, this unbalance condition leads to the poverty for low-middle income people.
Nowadays, people have understood that the more famous a person, the more earnings come to him/her. This relates to the international entertainers such as celebrities and athletes where they are always exposed to the public through media due to their popularity, or perhaps some of their achievements. Obviously, the well-known personality of theirs need some deserving higher payment by receiving sponsors, royalties, endorsements, and even rewards from the government and/or private sectors. This reality is understandable as it connects to their real life with almost no privacy and short time of rest they have gone through.
On the other hand, we can’t just forget this unprivileged group where they must face the opportunity cost to survive. They may work as the same hours as the privileged people, but they receive less than the 1, 5 US dollars - the purchasing power parity (PPP) rate - as proposed by the United Nations. In Indonesia, for instance, artists can earn at minimum rate of 100 million rupiahs (or around 8, 000 US dollars) for one creative project they do, contradictive with homeless people who can only reach 10, 000 rupiahs or less than one US dollar. This is intensely sad reality where some parts of this universe are able to buy a luxury property, and the other parts are hardly struggling for basic needs.
To close the statement by reaching a win-win solution, if I were allowed to give recommendations, the public sector should take an awareness of this disperse earnings of people. It is alright to support entertainment personalities to receive some bonus to appreciate their triumph, but those people who live under poverty should also receive social protection and warranty, including decent environment of living, the stock of consumption, and the most important thing is their education. And i also suggest those lucky people to donate some of their savings i. e. around 2, 5% in the Indonesia’s constitution. This may not significantly gigantic amount, but this is what we call social responsibility. I strongly believe, to take care of the social creatures thoroughly means to take care of future generation, and the universe has no doubt to provide equal life for equal justice.
