There are recent advancements in all most all news companies for spending more funds for internatonal news compared to local news. Even though there is a imporatance of global news for people, I believe that more funding should be spent on local news because they deliver the information which directly affects the day to day lives of the local community.
It is a fact that most people watch local news in order to get to know what is happeng around them. They mainly consume local news to know about whether changes, new laws and regulations passed by law makers, or local sport tournaments. All of these information are provided only by local news. However, Because of low funds received by local news departments, They may not be able to cover all the important news stories within their county or local community.
In contrast, international news are consumed only by a small portion of the poppulation and they also consume international news only for information purposes. Since there are multiple news companies which are already specialized in delivering international news, Other local news companies can build partnerships with those companies. They can deliver the same internationmal news stories provided by international news companies without expending an extra budget on covering all the incidents around the world. For an example, Siyatha news which is a local news comapny in Sri lanka, is doing a great job at delivering both local and international news becuase they have appointed BBC world news as their international news provider.
For the conclusion, I agree with the statement that local news is more relavant to local community and news companies should allocate more budget on local news because they provide detailed information on incidents which are more important to the the local community. Moreover, Local news companies can build partnerships with international news companies for providing international news stories without spending an extra budget.
