MODERN COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY HAVE A NEGATIVE EFFECT ON SOCIAL RELATIONSHIPS

One school of thought holds that the fast-paced technology innovation could have undesirable influences on social relationships. While I accept that this perception is somewhat justifiable, I believe that this also could reap the benefits. On the one hand, modern communication technology could have an adverse bearing on communities. First and foremost, digital connections could bring about an inactive lifestyle for people compared to the past. For instance, in families, members also have their own mobile phones and are more reliable on and contact each other through the phones so that they are gradually becoming too lazy to share and tell their stories to everyone. Consequently, in the absence of close family bonds, misunderstandings, conflicts between family members, and even divorce are inevitable. Furthermore, the overuse of high tech devices could have detrimental impacts on human health. To be more specific, it could stem from a sedentary lifestyle and oftentimes carries more potential health risks, such as obesity, cardiovascular, and eye problems. Notwithstanding the aforementioned disadvantages, there are a host of compelling reasons as to why I am convinced that technological advancement could bestow enormous benefits upon communities. One key rationale is that the proliferation of social media platforms has meant people can be constantly in touch in a variety of ways. This perception could be reinforced by the fact that people could easily and conveniently contact their friends and their beloved people regardless of geographical boundaries through numerous apps, such as messenger, viber, or facetime. Another justification is that the local people could update the latest news and broaden their knowledge via the Internet. For children, they could improve their ability of self-study by myriad useful apps due to its inexpensive and effective and parents empower to study with them. In addition, many citizens could entertain themselves by watching movies on Youtube, listening to music and seeking the newest news quickly after a long hard-working day. In conclusion, while it is irrefutable that the breakthrough of hi-tech gadgets could weaken their communication in society, I would contend that the upsides which it offers are more significantly more noteworthy.
