Many museums and historical sites are mainly visited by tourists rather than local people. Why is this? What can be done to encourage local people to visit museums and historical sites? lxLrQ
Although historical buildings and museums are inubiquotus, they are predominantly visited by tourists than local society. This essay will discuss the reason behind this and explain the measurement that enable them to be more appealing to local society. The main reason to this is the different of motivation between tourists and local people in visiting these places. The aim for tourists when they go to museums and historical sites is to learn such knowledge, such as historical and culture value, which coming to these places is the excellent way to obtain that. In the other hand, local society tends to have less intention to this objective as they have already learned it through their personal experiences since they live in those areas. In addition, tourists already plan and allocate their times conditionally to visit these places, while local people opt to prioritise their times in shopping, socializing, and so on. Therefore, they are most likely to spending their time in other activities. Despite that, there are several ways that can motivate local society to visit historical places and museums more often. First and foremost, the government can conduct special events or galas at those places to make them more attractive. For instance, traditional ceremony can be taken place in particular historical sites to encourage local citizens to come there. Besides that, the government can also reduce the ticket price or offer special discounts for local people. Moreover, providing the concession ticket for them can be another solution to make these places more tempting to be visited. In conclusion, it is undeniable that museums and historical sites are mostly visited by tourists than local citizens due to their different objectives in visiting them. However, holding special events and giving promotions can encourage more local people to come to these places.
