Maintaining public libraries is a waste of money since computer technology can replace their functions. 0LjVn
Those who argue that maintaining public libraries is not worth in recent days since technology is advancing at an alarming rate which can easily replace their functions. However, I don’t believe in the latter which can be discussed below in the following paragraphs.
To start with, it is a fact to say that in the recent era innovation in the computer is increasing which provides easy and convenient resources to read books however there is a risk of multiple viruses and scammer. For instance, if people want to read novels then they can view them through the internet easily but there is a risk of exposing the malware functioning while people reading in the bookstore do not have to be wary of such dangers. Additionally, the latter bookstore motivates people to go outside and read the books in the library in a peaceful environment. Consequently, public library provides a better reliable source of information which can’t be guaranteed by the Internet.
Moreover, every region does have the facilities for the internet but even though they have, old people living in rural areas can’t get to use the internet because they are not well educated with the latest technologies. For instance, most of the people in village areas don’t have cell phones to read books and are not familiar with the latest technologies, public bookstores will be quite useful in such situations. Due to its good nature, elderly people read the newspaper and others to get reliable information for them and can use their leisure time in bookshops. Furthermore, public archives especially the old ones, even the historical ones and traditional ones too.
To conclude, in spite of having advanced features that computer provides especially, in the book sectors and collections of data, I personally find that it is worth putting funding in public libraries.
