But before we talk about this conflict, assuming there is any conflict, I need to make a few disclaimers. For starters, as someone with very little knowledge of religion, I'm not qualified to speak in the name of Islam, especially when it comes to such challenging topics. Everyone should, whether they are a Muslim or not, advocate the rights of the oppressed. But clearly, men and women are not entirely the same creature, as testified by the Quran: and the male is not like the female. [3: 36] I don't believe we have the same roles and responsibilities in society. And whoever thinks otherwise is in manifest delusion, if you ask me. Exactly what are those roles and responsibilities is a topic maybe for another #longread post. Having said that, I take an unequivocal stance against domestic violence. Seriously, you don't need Quran and Sunna to explain you why harming others is wrong – this is common sense! If I could publicly torture, humiliate, and execute anyone who was violent with their wife, I definitely would. Some people asked Allah's Messenger (ﷺ), "Whose Islam is the best? i. e.
