University lecturers are now able to put their lectures on the internet for students to read and so the importance of attending face to face lectures has been reduced. Do you believe the use of the internet in formal education is a good idea? What future effects will the internet have on academic study?

Nowadays it has become common among universities to use Internet for teaching students. Many people believe that the Internet based learning will greatly enrich students’ lives, however in my opinion there are more injury han benefit. One disadvantage of the Internet study is that the level of real contact between lecturer and student may be reduced. This could happend simply because students will not spend much time on the campus. The same is relatively to lecturers. If there will be a chance to put their lectures and lessons on the Internet from home, then there will be no need to go to university. In my view the real contact between teacher and student is essential. Not all of students are responsible and study hard from home. Most of them relax in front of computer and the quality of learning decrease. For example my tutors always emphasize the importance of regular, informal meetings due to quality and responsibilty. Apart from the negative impact to the relationship between lecturer and student, I think we also should consider the harm to the health. All of us used to study in real life, explore information, make projects by socializing with other students on campus. If it is no longer neccessary to leave home because lectures are on the Internet, then students may suffer physically and mentally because of this change. In conclusion, I disagree with the idea of using technology and Internet based study, while it is harmful to health and has not high quality of learning. I think we have to guard against developing and dependene on it.
