The pie charts below show the percentage of five kinds of books sold by a bookseller between 1972 and 2012. QMJoP
The three pie charts illustrate the sale of five various types of books percentage-wise made by a bookseller in the years of 1972, 1992 and 2021. Overall, it is clearly evident that the most significant difference occurred in the sale of adult fiction which increased to more than double at the end of the period. Meanwhile, apart from children's books that experienced a slight growth, there were a dramatic drop in vendition of biography and the other sorts of books. In 1972, adult fiction and children's fiction sectors both accounted for one-fifth of the amount of books sold, then after a slight rise at the middle of the period to 25% and 22% respectively, while children's fiction made up a quarter of books sold, adult fiction experienced the most growth to almost 45% in 2012. In contrast, the category of biography, which was 20% in 1972, continued to fell to just 8% in 2012 and became the lowest sale made by this particular bookseller. Similar trend was seen in the case of other books. While its sale was the largest segment with 25% at the beginning of the period, after a fall of 5% in 1992, it decreased by merely more than half to 12% in 2012. Furthermore, although there was a increase in the sale of travel books by 3% in 1993 in comparison to previous year, it declined to 10 percent in 2012.
