In some organizations, promotions are based on seniority, while in other organizations, promotions are based on performance. Discuss the advantages of each position. Then indicate which position you think is best and why.

Promotions are the keys of motivations for most of the workers specially the hard-workers, however some organizations promote their employees counting their current senior position while other organizations promote their employees counting their productivity and performance, in this essay we will explain how both types of promotions are advantageous. Firstly, promoting seniors is beneficial for both organizations and employees as the employee will maximize his efforts to get a higher position however it will also give him the chance of new learning skills and experiences, for example, being a manager will give you the leadership skill and new whole type of responsibilities. Secondly, promotions based on skills and quality of service of the employees will give the workers a boost of motivation to perform better and perfectly so they can get a higher position and salaries, in addition it will inspire him to rely on hight standards at work, for instance one of my colleagues got promoted because of his communication and problem solving Skills before other old employees. Personally i prefer to promote employees based on their quality of service as to prevent some other incompetent employees to occupy seniority positions as being a senior does not mean that this worker is skilled or competent. In summary, we can conclude that both types of promotions are advantageous but it is always better to reward high skilled workers based on their quality of services.
