In many places, prisons are overcrowded and expensive for governments to maintain. Yet, when offenders are released, they end up back in prison a short while later? Do prisons work?

Prisons are those places, where criminals are kept for their punishments. There are numerous jails which are overcrowded and there maintenance cost is also high for administration. When prisoners come out of them, they end up coming again in it later. In my perspective nowadays, prisons are not playing any role in reducing crime rate. Further in my essay I will elaborate that why I am saying this. Although, lock-ups are for unlawful acts but still, in these days they are not conscious about, what is happening inside them. Most of the offenders enjoy staying in it due to the fact that, there they get all kind of facilities. For example, in jails they get food, use mobile phones, watch televisions, play sports, internet access and get comfortable environment. Consequently, if they are living such life then it is not a punishment, there must be strong laws for such acts. Additionally, when offenders releases from the lock-ups, they indulge themselves in more illegal activities. In the light of fact that, they have spent much time there with so many criminals, For instance, when lawbreakers stay there for longer period of time, they met so many robbers, thieves, fraudsters and other bandits. From them, they get number of ideas to become professional law-breakers and after coming out from bars, they again try to apply those new tactics for doing robbery. If this will remain continue then, crime rates of our country will never decrease. To put in nutshell, I pen down by saying that, for convicts there must be a strong rules and regulations than, staying in prisons because from this they are not getting lessons or detention centers must follow strict rules so that, they will realize their mistake.
