Follow realistic jobs or dream jobs

It is considered by some that adolescents should be allowed to pursue their dream career while there are others who think that teenagers should aim for a realistic job. In my opinion, it is significant for young children to opt for the career fields which are most compatible with their interests. There are several reasons why some people think that the youth need to be more rational in choosing their careers. Firstly, young people have to take the salaries into consideration. They should find a job enabling them to meet their basic demands as they can not rely on their parents for their whole lives. Indeed, they have to earn a living on their own, which can not be achieved if they just consider their interests. Besides, ability and talent are also major factors influencing career development. As a matter of fact, it is vital to choose a job matching one’s current talents, otherwise they may face more pressure from their peers. For example, a person with a nice voice can reap the benefits of becoming a singer, while a person with no talent at singing can never be a successful singer no matter how much she wants. On the other hand, I am of the opinion that young people are free to pursue their dream careers. To begin with, the young will have more passion and motivation as they choose it themselves. Therefore, they can concentrate completely on their jobs, thereby improving their performances and boosting productivity. This can lead to an increase in the ability to get a promotion. Furthermore, doing their loved works can bring young people a sense of fulfillment. Indeed, if they are well-paid but always stressed and tense, they may not only never enjoy their lives but also suffer from misery and mental illness like depression or anxiety disorders. In contrast, landing their dream jobs can bring them pleasure and happiness, thus improving their well-being. Although some people believe that the youth should choose a realistic career, I reckon that young people are more likely to be successful when they pursue their favorite ones.
