Indonesia continue to exemplify itself as an emerging powerhouse of democracy in the world. the 2019 general election has shown Indonesia’s capability of maintaining a stable and well-functioning democracy. With more than 192 million voters involved – 1, 2 of them are PwDs— the election was considered to be the largest general elections in the world which aims to simultaneously elect the President along with vice president, members of national and local parliaments.
With a successive nation-wide election held in 2020, Indonesia also has successfully held an election that aimed to elect leaders from 9 provinces, 37 cities, and 224 regencies, with adjustments and health protocols being imposed due to the pandemic.
Both election had been successfully with minimum constraints. Despite existing challenges of division of among society that happened within the election period, Indonesia once again showed its maturity as a well-functioning democracy with a functioning democratic institutions capable of resolving conflicts arising from the disputed election results.
