Considering the statement given, it is not possible for all the youngsters to take up a job and to help their neighbors. There are some factors to be considered why it is not applicable for all teenagers, such as mental health and academic performance.
Firstly, when it comes to teenagers, it is important to have some hobbies or interests which they will explore in their leisure time for their own mental wellness. If we ask them to work in their free time, there are many chances for mental breakdown. As they are already piled up with lots of other scholastic and co-scholastic tasks under the pressure of parents, relatives and teachers. As an example, one of my students is interested in cricket and she practices in the cricket academy every morning and evening altogether for 4-hours, followed by school, where she will spend around 8-hours. This mentally exhausted her and proper counselling was suggested later.
Secondly, if children are asked to work in their free time, it will affect their performance in studies because there will be no time to prepare for their assessments. Due to this kids might lose interest in studies which will leads to poor academics results. And again the low grades they scored in the exams would pave the way for mental breakdown.
Taking everything into account, it is require for the young generation to contribute to our socitey by doing unpaid job in their free time but its also socities responsibility to keep the youngsters mentally and physically fit and letting them to enjoy their fruitful teen-years.
