You have been told that dormitory rooms at your university must be shared by two students. Would you rather have the university assign a student to share a room with you, or would you rather choose your own roommate? Use specific reasons and details to explain your answer.

Personally, I prefer to pick my own companion in a dorm rather than the university assign someone to be my roommate due to several reasons. First and foremost, having an introvert personality, I prefer to have a roommate that I already knew because it makes me feel more comfortable than being with random students. To illustrate, being a transferee in grade seven when I was in high school was a great challenge for me. Since all of my classmates are new to me, I had a hard time adjusting to my new environment and I ended up making a lot of absences because I am not happy and comfortable in class. Furthermore, if I am with someone I already knew or let say my friend. It will be a great chance for us to bond together. We can chat or talk anytime we want. We can also do what we usually do when we are together without going somewhere. For example, when my best friend and I stayed in the same apartment in Laguna, we took that chance to eat and stroll together, watch movies and talk all night. Lastly, you can say or do things without thinking that you might offend someone. For instance, you want to set rules about something inside your room, you can tell it comfortably to your friend but might be more cautious if it is a roommate that is not close to you. Those are the reasons why I want to personally pick my own roommate.
