Weapons of mass destruction

Ever since the dawn of man, an endless arms race has been going on between individuals and groups in an attempt to subdue the other with wit, manpower and resources. One of the most controversial inventions of our time is the invention of the boom. Due to its nature, some people believe that the usage of such weapons will lead to our end, while others believe that it will assure our safety. On the one hand, we have the possitive zenith of such weapon, security. With such tool at our disposal, surely no one in their right mind would question our authority. For example, if a country with the same firepower capability decided to attack someone, one could use such weapon not for killing the enemy, but using it as barganing chips to avoid assured mutual desctruction. On the other hand, such weapon spells doom for the ones that use it. With such high power, comes great responsibility that most leaders these days lack. Case in point, a losing side with such weapons could pull not just its enemy, but also the entire world. Finaly, the boom is one of the greatest dilemas in human history. It is a weapon mostly used for striking fear into other nations' populuses and also provide safety in case of similar threats. Such weapons could either be dissmanteled, or put into the hand of people of utmost responsibility. In my opinion, these weapons are a thing of the past and are only used by people with no regard for human life. For one weapon to take out entire cities in a whim, it could only be used by cowards.
