The bar chart provides the percentages of British male and female employees in various work sectors in 2005.
In general, it can be seen that men are mainly involved in technical occupations and require special training, while women are favorable in jobs related to customer service and working in the office. The year 2005 has seen the proportion of female workers in administrative and secretarial occupations increase to approximately 22%, which is also the job with the highest female workforce. In contrast, men make up merely over 5% of these positions, in sales and customer service, respectively. In addition, another job with only 3%, the percentage of men working the least, is personal service. However, in high-skilled occupations, men make up 20%, a significant proportion, compared with women in this job, and in plant and machinery operations, only 3%.
The most balanced occupation among others is primary, labor and catering, comprising about 12% of men and 11% of women.
