There should be a legal limit of getting married only after one gets 21. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

No one can deny that there are a great number of the young under the age of 21 who are married now. The inevitable question which has always caused heated debate among experts is whether getting married below 21 years old for both girls and boys should be announced illegal. I firmly agree with this viewpoint, because if it is not declared illegal, most of the target group will face many difficulties. On the one hand, getting married at a young age, especially before 21 which including children, is a fundamental violation of human rights. This practice can cause a large number of problems, among which deprivation of education is the most common. To be more precise, when people do not have access to education, they will be dependent on their spouse or family for the rest of life, especially for financial supports. Building upon the data released by the UNICEF, annually more than ten million young people getting married, and approximately 90 per cent of them do not pursue their education due to the spouses’ disagreement, adolescent pregnancies, and major depression. On the other hand, generally, people in the second decades of their life is not completely mature or well- experienced to take a proper decision about choosing spouses. So, it might cause irreparable damages due to dissatisfaction and regret after a few years. To be more specific, it leads to a chain of problems such as getting divorced, self-harming, and committing suicide. Based on a new study conducted in Iran, in the last ten years, two out of three women who get married before 21 years old in Elam province which is in the east of Iran, were committed suicide via self-immolation, unfortunately, most of them died, or being disabled for the rest of life. Therefore, authorities must immediately take action toward early marriage. In brief, all the aforementioned reasons lead us to the conclusion that getting married at an early age is against human rights, and can cause Sevier problems like deprivation of education and even commit suicide. So, I completely agree that this act must be legally banned.
