The tourism industry has grown enormously over the last fifty years, and there are few places which are unaffected by it. However, tourism rarely benefits the countries which tourists visit. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

There are more and more countries which exploited the tourism industry for half-century while a small number of areas show no interest in this field. However, some people argue that tourism hardly brings any advantages for a region. On the one hand, there is a fact that the more the visitors are, the more polluted the area is. Owning to the above fact, the authority should take the environment into account so that imposing higher fines for polluting activities or upgrading the public transportation should be considered if necessary. Moderating between the tourism and environmental factors is crucial because the authority never wants to use the revenue of tourism for regenerating the environment. Otherwise, the tourist industry will bring no pros for the destination areas. Despite the mentioned cons, this activity helps a country to develop its economic state in a variety of aspects. Firstly, tourism helps host countries to create employment opportunities for the locals, especially for the farmers who still depend on agriculture such as cultivating or fishing. This may support developing countries to transform their economic structure to the service industry. Secondly, increase the consumption of handicrafts because visitors tend to buy these as souvenirs, which may hardly receive attention from the locals. This will advertise the culture of a country worldwide. To summarize, the tourist industry can become a source of revenue for a country or a source of issues if not managed well.
