The multi line graph provides the information about the alterations in price for three different food products for a period of thirty years
Overall, all the food items showed fluctuations in their trends. Among all, fruits and vegetables displayed significantly higher variations as compared to the other supplies with respect to the consumer-pricing index.
In the year 1979, all the consumables started with the same price of around 50. By 1983, the rate for fruits and vegetables as well as sugar and sweets doubled reaching around 100 whereas, there was a puny rise in carbonated drinks, pricing around 60. In the next 8 years all three graphs witnessed an increase in price however, in 1993 prices of both fruits and vegetables and sugar and sweets dropped from around 150 to 125. On the contrary, a sharp rise in cost was observed for carbonated drinks crossing the other two consumables reaching around 225.
However in 1995, the price for drinks decreased dramatically and the other two items continued to increase. A significant rise was witnessed in the year 1991 (around 340) and 2001(around 350) for sugar and sweets and fruits and vegetables respectively. Then till 2009, minor fluctuations were observed in these two graphs whereas the trend for carbonated drink displayed a stagnant rise in price from 1995 to 2009.
