The diagram illustrates how electricity is produced from coal.
Overall, the process has 9 steps, beginning with the supply of coal and ending with the disposal of ash.
In the first stage, coal from the supply system is poured into a pulverizer, where it is crushed into powder. After that, milled coal enters a boiler. Following that, the coal is burned and produces heat energy that converts the water in the boiler into steam. The dust from burning coal is collected in a stack for emission. At the next stage of the process, the steam from the boiler goes into a pipe which connects to a turbine, then it drives the turbine to generate electricity in the substation.
Ash from burning the coal is collected for disposal. The steam used to drive the turbine is then cooled by a cooling system and is condensed back into water. Finally, this water is returned to the boiler to begin a new circulation.
