Recently, the importance of televisions for kids acquire new skills and information has been emphasized, with some people also suggest that it is needed at both school and home. To some point, I disagree with the assertion that it is a good source of information. This essay will discuss my negative approach to this topic and the positive approach of some people.
On the one hand, one of the reasons I do not concur that television plays an important role in the development of young children is to affect of brain and behavior. Though TV shows can be educational, studies suggest that excessive watching can damage your child's brain growth. The first few years of a child's life are crucial for their brain growth. For example, according to a reasearch conducted by Johns Hopkins University, children's memory, literacy and math ability, language and cognitive skills, and social behaviour was all negatively affected by viewing tv. Furthermore, children's interest in television at an early age, which some parents think is more educational, however, it leads to various diseases that lead to blood problems and overweight. For instance, 2014 study published in the International Journal of Cardiology suggests that children aged 2 to 10 who watch TV for more than two hours a day is 30% more likely to be at risk for blood pressure compared to those who spend less time in front of TV.
On the other hand, although I do not agree with the vital role of television in children's lives, it also has educational aspects. Several television channels, though few, are dedicated to producing educational and informational programming for audiences, including kids. As an instance, Sesame Street is one such program which is aimed at preschoolers.
To summarize, watching television is likely to have a large amount of detrimental impacts on children's wellbeing and learning circumstances. As a result, they should not be allowed to watch TV at home or at school, and their viewing time should be restricted.
