The world has changed significantly during the last several decades in aspect of our lives: a communication, our habits and even the way of moving to and from school by children aged 5-12.
According to the chart of the total number of trips per year made by a car, walking, cycling, walking and bus, the amount of trips made by walking and cycling children has changed from 13 million in 1990 to 6 million in 2010. Thus, the number of children who only walk to or from school has decreased greatly.
On the other hand, the amount of trips made by car passengers has increased from 4 to 11 million during 30 years. It can be a sign of quickly wide spreading modern technologies.
Judging by this report it can be referred, that the amount of the cars owned by families has significantly increased so a great variety of children have the opportunity to travel to school by a car.
